[GREENVILLE, S.C.] – Collins & Lacy, P.C. is pleased to announce that Jack D. Griffeth has been selected to receive the Tommy Thomason Award by the Greenville County Bar Association. He will be honored at a luncheon sponsored by the Greenville Bar Association on December 10th at the Westin Poinsett Hotel in Greenville.
Tommy Thomason was a distinguished member of the Greenville Bar Association who practiced law for 40 years in Greenville with the law firm of Love, Thornton, Arnold and Thomason. The Tommy Thomason Award was established by the Greenville County Bar Association in 1993 to honor a Greenville lawyer whom best exemplifies the many outstanding qualities of Tommy Thomason. Thomason was well known for his integrity, compassion and sensitivity to all people, positive diplomacy to minimize conflict, dedication to the improvement of community, and his overall love for the practice of law and pursuit of the practice as a service to the people. “Jack will be the first recipient of the award who actually practiced law with Tommy Thomason and truly epitomizes the attributes of the award,” commented David W. Edwards, President of the Greenville County Bar.
The Selection Committee for the award is comprised of the immediate past president of the Greenville County Bar, along with the three most recent recipients of the award and three attorneys appointed by the Greenville County Bar Association. There is no mandatory requirement that a recipient be selected each year.
“I am humbled and honored to receive this award. Tommy Thomason lived the lessons we would all do well to learn–to deal fairly with other members of the Bar, to treat your clients with respect, and to live out your faith every day,” Griffeth said.
