Jacob A. Flowers, JD, CIPP/US, serves as chair of the Privacy, Data Management, and Cybersecurity practice group and practices in the Construction, Products Liability, and Trucking Defense groups at Collins & Lacy.

As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), Jacob utilizes specialized knowledge of the legal framework and challenges of state, federal, and international privacy laws and regulations serve as a trusted advisor to clients in matters related to privacy, security, and information management issues, including privacy program management regulatory compliance, data management, and privacy-related litigation.

Prior to coming to Collins & Lacy, Jacob served as an Enforcement Attorney for the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs, followed by a period as the managing attorney of the Columbia office of a local consumer bankruptcy firm representing individuals and businesses for Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy cases. He became a member of the J. Bratton Davis Bankruptcy Law Inn of Court. He then moved into a position as a litigation at a Columbia-based civil defense firm

At the University of South Carolina School of Law, Jacob served on the Executive Committee of the Moot Court Bar, earning the “Order of the Barrister” for excellence in oral advocacy. Additionally, he served as a law clerk for the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office in the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Division.
