The South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission (SCWCC) has been very busy lately. Here is a brief recap of the news you can use regarding the practice of workers’ comp in the Palmetto State.
- This morning, the SCWCC is holding a public hearing to receive comments on the proposed Mediation Regulation R 67-1801 to 67-1809 (R4286). You can learn more about the proposed mediation regulation by reading our past blog posts on the subject, and here is the entire proposal from the SCWCC. A SCWCC Special Business Meeting will follow the public hearing to consider final approval of the proposed language for General Assembly review.
- Following last week’s SCWCC public hearing on the proposed amendments to Regulation 67-706 (R4283) Oral Argument, the proposed regulation will now be presented to the Commission at the Business Meeting June 18. The amendments include the addition of a subsection “D” which would require parties to be present in the designated waiting area of the Commission no later than 30 minutes prior to the time for which their cases are scheduled to be argued. Upon Commission approval, Regulation 67-706 (R4283) will be submitted to the General Assembly for review. You can read the Presiding Officer Report here.
- Kim Ballentine has been honored as the Commission’s 2011 Employee of the Year. Kim is the Executive Assistant to SCWCC Executive Director Gary Cannon. Cannon tells us “We are proud of Kim’s accomplishments and her contributions to the team at the SC Workers’ Compensation Commission.”
The team at Collins & Lacy would also like to say, “Congratulations Kim on this much deserved honor!”
