On July 13, 2012, the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission issued a notice about the mileage reimbursement rate, which went into affect on July 1, 2012.
Previously $0.505 cents per mile, the new mileage reimbursement rate is $0.555 in accordance with the amount allowed to state employees for mileage. This rate concerns expenses incurred by the claimant for travel to receive medical attention, specifically to and from a place of medical attention which is more than five miles away from his or her home. This distance also differs from the prevous reimbursement rate, which covered travel more than ten miles away from the claimant’s home.
