On Thursday, December 22, 2011, Governor Nikki Haley appointed Gene McCaskill to fill Commissioner David Huffstetler’s recent vacancy at the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission. Click here to read the release from the Governor’s Office.
The business community is optimistic about McCaskill’s appointment due to his experience and reputation in the business community. McCaskill currently serves as a senior executive assistant in Attorney General Alan Wilson’s office. His prior business experience includes working as a grocer for two decades in the Camden area and most recently as Director of Admissions at Camden Military Academy. He also has served on Kershaw County Council, The South Carolina Commission on Consumer Affairs and The South Carolina Educational Television Commission.
McCaskill’s appointment is subject to the approval of the Senate, which will reconvene January 10, 2012.
