[Columbia, S.C., July 2010] Just one lawsuit could put a company out of business – and force citizens out of work. This week, a South Carolina law firm worked to prevent that. Collins & Lacy, PC helped provide South Carolina businesses the knowledge they need to keep their company out of court.
Three seminars were held in July in which the Collins & Lacy team offered free legal advice about emerging issues that could impact the construction industry. The first was July 15 at the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the second was July 22 at the City of Myrtle Beach Fire Department, Station 6, and the third was July 29 at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.
One attendee said he will be “taking the ‘a-ha moment’ info back to [his company’s] operations and HR” department. Another member of the business community said, “I need to attend more seminars like this one.”
Business leaders who attended the Columbia, Myrtle Beach and Greenville seminars applauded the presentations on workers’ compensation and immigration issues. One reflected that it was a “great workshop, very valuable to the business community.”
The free, half-day seminar, How to Avoid the Pitfalls of Litigation, discussed immigration issues, workers’ compensation, subcontractor and contractor insurance issues, common code violations, government contracts, and the importance of job descriptions and drug testing.
