On April 25, 2012, the S.C. Senate unanimously approved the appointment of attorney Melody James to fill the expired term of Commissioner Bryan Lyndon. Commissioner James’ appointment will run through June 30, 2016. She graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1987. Prior to her appointment, she was a partner at the firm of Mozingo & James in Camden, South Carolina and served as the municipal judge for the City of Cayce. Commissioner James has already begun to hold hearings in Columbia.
The appointment of Commissioner James puts two new faces to the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission over the past six months. Commissioner Gene McCaskill was appointed to fill the unexpired term of David Huffstetler who resigned effective November 15, 2011. Commissioner McCaskill and Commissioner Andrea Roche’s terms will expire on June 30, 2012. Stay tuned to see if we have more new faces at the Commission over the summer.
