At the June 19, 2017 Business Meeting of the Full South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Commissioners adopted an administrative Order pending changes to the regulations of the Commission to implement the option of electronic payment of compensation to injured workers. Although Section 42-9-450 was adopted by the legislature and signed by Governor McMaster on May 9, 2017 to allow payment of compensation by check or electronic payment systems, this new Code section requires compliance with “the policies, procedures, or regulations as provided by the Commission.” The regulations to implement electronic payment of compensation have not yet been approved by the legislature. Therefore, by administrative Order, the Commission adopted the proposed regulations. Here is a link to the administrative Order.
