Charles L. Appleby Selected for Leadership Columbia

[COLUMBIA, S.C., July 26, 2010] -  Collins & Lacy, P.C. is pleased to announce attorney Charles L. Appleby IV has been selected for the 2011 class of Leadership Columbia.

The Leadership Columbia program has been sponsored by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce for more than 30 years.  The program was designed to provide existing and emerging leaders with opportunities to enhance their civic knowledge and civic network, help participants better understand how our community works and provide opportunities for building relationships with the region’s current and future leaders.  Through their participation, participants develop the leadership skills necessary to assume leadership roles and become inspired to focus talents in a way that will best serve the community.

Charles is an associate practicing in employment law, complex defense litigation and construction defect litigation.  Originally from Columbia, S.C., Charles graduated from the University of Florida and received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  While in law school, he served as the Student Bar Association President, initiated the inaugural University of South Carolina School of Law Career Week and was a student member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court.  Since joining Collins & Lacy in 2007, Charles has remained active both in the legal field and the community.  Charles serves on the USC Alumni Association Board of Governors and is Vice-Chair of the USC Council of Alumni Societies.  He also is a member of the Editorial Board of The South Carolina Lawyer, the Medical University of South Carolina Board of Governors, as well as the Columbia Museum of Art Contemporaries Board.
