Ross B. Plyler

Ross Plyler is a senior associate with Collins & Lacy practicing in the areas of insurance litigation, employment law, transportation law and college and university law.  Ross is a summa cum laude graduate of Wofford College, where he received his undergraduate degree in Government and History and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  He received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  Following law school, he served as a law clerk for The Honorable Henry M. Herlong, Jr., United States District Court Judge.  Prior to joining Collins & Lacy, Ross was an associate at a firm based in Greenville, South Carolina.

Practice Focus/Trial Experience

• Insurance Coverage:  representing American and international insurance companies in litigation involving coverage disputes, first party claims, commercial liability, errors and omissions and bad faith claims.
• Commercial Transportation: representing local, regional and national trucking  interests, owner-operators, charter bus operators, loggers and insurers of such entities, in litigation venues throughout South Carolina. 
• College & University Law: representing private institutions of higher learning primarily in employment, student disciplinary action, faculty cases and contracts with vendors, entertainers and other partners in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, the Clery Act and several other regulatory acts. Handling premises liability and policy development for employment, student health, disability accommodation and academic concessions. Also offers risk management advice on travel abroad, student internships, adjunct faculty arrangements and other related issues.
